There is no doubt that some of our most popular lists are ones which revolve around mystery and intrigue. Fortunately for us all, there is no end to the number of weird and wonderful mysteries in the world, so we are now able to present our fourth list of

Google Sites, a free service that allows anyone to create a wiki style website in seconds, may be the new hunting ground for scams for one simple reason - all web pages hosted on Google Sites have an address beginning with sites.google.com.
Wherever I turn online I find these scam/spam...and now it is even promoted by Google?
i tried voting this thing up, but she just won't budge. seriously, i tried everything. if anyone wants to know whether this is a good submission, send me a private message. i'll confirm it, if the site doesn't want to take my vote. ;-)
ah, finally, she worked.
@jansie thanks for your enormous efforts:) I love she! (I submitted this site, because I have learnt so much from Amit Agarwal...so short blog posts, yet so very useful)
Stuff like drugs (the legal kind) isnt something I would get online anyways, be weary of scams unless there is a strong community backing that site/person's reputation
@mkz you are so right. There is nothing better than an old fashioend and very experienced chemist, who takes time to explain some additional tips and tricks about drugs we need or buy (our family doctors are simply far too busy for that)
I would agree
The vote of trust of 2008 will ever be remembered in the history of Indian politics. Many people might have lost their confidence in politics, as the ugly side was witnessed during the vote of trust.
Hackers have released software that exploits a recently disclosed flaw in the Domain Name System (DNS) software used to route messages between computers on the Internet.
this is scary stuff. so this means nothing is really safe from hacking. sheesh, what to do?
scary stuff, I think I shall be scared of updates for the next few months :P
Nothing is ever safe. My cousin works for a company that hacks their clients systems to disclose vulnerability. Then builds a patch for it. One of their biggest clients is the US Military. Let's just say, business is good.
@jansie The bad part about this, a security company called Matasano inadvertently released details about the flaw in a blog post. They took it down as soon as the realized what they did. It was to late thought, the flaw detail had been scraped and posted else where. So now hackers had enough time to develop a tool to poison DNS. Dan Kaminsky, the guy that found the flaw had only given security companies and OS makers details on the flaw on the condition not to release anything until after the black hat security conference in August which would have given everyone at least 30 days. That would have given OS makers and ISP's enough time to develop a patch and apply it. However, Matasano dropped the ball and then they had only 13 days. Now OS makers and ISP's are scrambling like a bunch of Monkey's screwing Footballs to get this fixed.
@SilentJay74 so where's this leading? a total wipe out of the web? this is possible, is it not? or those really sweet domain names i recently purchased can simply be stolen from me. this whole thing looks like part of a bigger scheme. now's the time for the new internet to come to life, if that's even possible. and go matasano! brilliant strategy. they should be rewarded for their efforts.
@jansie Not really a wipe out more like a high jack.
@SilentJay74 we need to do something dude! i dunno, maybe create a 'marines against internet hijacking' group or something. recruit some mean outcasts (you can do that), and send them to all the geeks hidden in their basements trying to take over the world. kick ass! i'll submit the action to mixx. have to do something. hey, would i score a free spork if i join?
@jansie You had to bring up the Titanium spork didn't you?
@SilentJay74 aha! knew i'd get your spider senses tingling by mentioning the spork. and yes, of course it has to be the titanium spork.
Finding another villian or two to ably face off against the caped crusader, while staying true to Christopher Nolan's darker tone won't be an easy task. Here's 8 villains that may be able to pull it off...
I cried when I saw Jim Carey's interpretation of the Riddler. Not in joy, but in despair. I would love to see a great actor play him in the next movie. Hugo Strange and Black Mask would be my second and third choices :D
I think they should get Batista or Brock Lessner to play Bane
@mortalwind Nah, they can pull it off using CGI. They've already done it for The Hulk. All they need to do is change the textures for the Hulk model, add a mask and some tubes along his back and Ang Lee to direct it.
+1 for catwoman. Nolan's interpretation would redeem that character from all the bad adaptations so far.
Opponents of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military denounced it as cruel and unpatriotic Wednesday. The heated exchanges came as Congress held its first hearing on "don't ask, don't tell" since its enactment 15 years ago.

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone wrote yesterday that its fight against spam is an “ongoing battle” but his team has taken big steps in stopping the unwanted follows from bots....
>>To combat aggressive following directly we have recently imposed new limits on following—spammy accounts following too many users have been drastically curbed. Those that existed prior to this new limit await review. Our administrative tools for finding and dealing with spam grow more sophisticated as we learn more. <<
It seems unfortunate but combatting spammers is never easy as I'm sure everyone knows. Determining which users with massive lists are legit and which ones aren't can't be easy. Maybe a request when a user gets to that number then allowing twitter to quickly check the account for legitimacy and then permit it. It's probably not the solution but I don't know what the solution is.
I haven't really been a beneficiary of these new anti-spam measres :(
